Thelen, 92, of Ionia, formerly of Fowler, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011. He was born June 23, 1919 in Fowler, the son of Robert and Rose (Martin) Thelen. Martin married the former Martha L. Rademacher on Sept. 27, 1944 in Westphalia and they moved to Ionia I n 1974. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Fowler K of C’s. Martin was a retired Dairy Farmer. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale; daughter, Phyllis; two brothers, Raymond and Donald Thelen; infant sister Germaine; daughter-in-law, Christine Thelen; granddaughter, Michelle Thelen; great grandson, Noah Wilson; sisters-in-law, Helene Thelen, Rosene Thelen, Arlene Thelen and Lillian Fox; brothers-in-law, Eldred Rademacher, Donald Trierweiler, Walter Fox and Martin Rademacher. Surviving are his wife, Martha l. Thelen; six daughters, Mary Lou (Bruce) Campbell, Pauline Harris, Lucille Thelen, Anita (Robert) Talcott, Sharon (James Lauderdale) Thelen and Karen Thelen; five sons, Ralph Thelen, Lawrence (RoxAnne) Thelen, Daniel (Nancy) Thelen, Albert Thelen and Duane (Robin Sietsema) Thelen; 27 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; brothers, Clarence Thelen, James (Helen) Thelen and Jerome Thelen; sisters, Marcella Rademacher and Joan (Erwin) Miller; and sisters0in-law, Theresa Thelen, Mary Ann Thelen, Germaine Trierweiler and Monica Rademacher. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia. A luncheon will follow the service and then Interment will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Fowler. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia, and at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Church. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday, 3 p.m. Tuesday, and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
