Jan 13, 2016 JAMES MARK THELEN James Mark Thelen, age 79, of Lake Odessa passed away Jan. 9, 2016, in Grand Rapids. He was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Fowler, the son of Robert and Rosa (Martin) Thelen. James married Helene Burch April 7, 1956, in Portland. She preceded him in death in 1987. He went on to marry Helen Devers July 9, 1988, in lake Odessa. James retired from Twin City Foods. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved to bowl and ice fish. He also enjoyed traveling and camping in is younger years with his family. James is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Helen Thelen of Lake Odessa; daughters, Susan Thelen of Ionia, Rosemary thelen of Portland and Evelyn (Leonard) Griffith of Lyons; step-children, Connie (David) De Agostino of Ionia, Michael (Kay) Devers of Fenwick and Shelly Devers and Paul Curtis of Lyons; brother Jerome Thelen of Fowler; sisters, Marcella Rademacher of Westphalia and Joanne Miller of Portland; sisters-in-law, Martha Thelen of Ionia, Maryanne Thelen of Portland and Theresa Thelen of Lansing; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Helen Thelen; infant son, Mark Thelen; grandson, Robert Harrington; brothers, Martin, Raymond, Clarence and Donald; and infant sister Germaine. A Mass of christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, Jan. 15, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in lake Odessa with Father Thomas Boufford celebrant. Rite of Committal will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-7 PM at Lake funeral Home in Ionia. A Rosary will follow at 7:30 PM at the Funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church.
