Ionia Sentinel Standard – Wednesday, 20 October 1948

Mrs. Thelma E. Helms, 44, of Fairplains Township died early Wednesday morning 
in Sheridan county hospital from a fractured skull after she was kicked by a 
horse.  She was born Sept. 24, 1904, in Fulton Township in Gratiot County.  
She has resided in Fairplains Township for the past two years and prior to 
that lived in Gratiot County and the Palo vicinity.  She married Frank Helms 
Dec. 23, 1915.  She was a member of the Palo Baptist church.

Surviving Mrs. Helms is the husband; two daughters, Mrs. William Bill of 
Crystal and Martha, at home; a son, Francis, at home; her parents, Mr. and 
Mrs.  Joseph Comer of Fenwick rural route; three brothers, Russell and Donald 
Comer of Fenwick and Howard Comer of Butler, Pa.

Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 pm from the Stebbins funeral 
home in Sheridan with the Rev. Lewis Herrick officiating.  Interment will be 
in East Plains cemetery near Pewamo.
