Stanley Thomas, age 77, of Ionia, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 in Ionia.  
He was born January 29, 1928 in Ionia the son of Stephen and Edna (Vernon) 
Thomas.  He married Joan Peabody September 11, 1949 in Ionia.  He worked for GM 
as a Pipe Fitter from 1966 until retiring in 1991.  He was a volunteer driver 
for Ionia Commission on Aging.  Stanley enjoyed wood working and loved working 
in his yard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Thomas of Ionia; children, 
Kim and Greg Courtnay of Ionia, Marc Thomas of Greenville, Laura Miller of 
Ionia; sister Marge and Ron Powell of Ionia; brother-in-law Richard and Melanie 
Peabody of Harbor Springs; grandchildren, Joe, Andy, Elliot and Kaylie.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev. Ken Harger officiating.  Interment Balcom Cemetery.  The family will 
receive friends and relatives Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral 
home.  You may make memorial contributions in Stanley’s name to Ionia 
Commission on Aging.
