Thomas, a resident of Pewamo many years ago, were brought here from the State hospital at Traverse City last Monday morning for interment in East Plains cemetery. The body was met at the train by local relatives and taken direct to the cemetery where a short burial service was read by Rev. I. B. Kinney of Matherton. The deceased was born in the state of New York, December 22, 1835, and passed away July 22, 1915. He came to Michigan when a young man and at the outbreak of the civil war enlisted in Co. B. Eighth Michigan Vol. Infantry. His first term of enlistment having expired he re- enlisted in Co. B. 2nd Veteran Reserve Corps and saw active service until honorably discharged from service Nov. 10th, 1865. Besides a niece, Mrs. Benj. Abbott of this village, he leaves a nephew, Rush Clark of Howell.
