Ionia Sentinel - 13 August 1974
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Thomas, 61, of Portland road, route 3, Portland, died Monday 
at Borgess hospital in Kalamazoo after being hospitalized four weeks.  Born in 
Orange township February 23, 1913, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy 
Carbaugh.  She was employed with the Michigan Health department in Lansing with 
the cancer research department the past eight years.

Surviving are the husband, Charles; five sons, Charles, Jr., and Larry of 
Portland, William of Lyons, Phillip and Robert of Ionia 15 grandchildren; 
brother, William Carbaugh of Texas.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 pm at the Neller funeral home in 
Portland.  Rev. Harold Homer of Portland United Methodist church will officiate 
and interment will be in Balcom cemetery.
