Sept. 27, 1962 SARANAC- Claude F. Thomas, 72, died Saturday in Kissimmee, Fla. He had been a resident and farmer in Clarksville 14 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary; three sons, John of Kissimmee, Fla., Ross and LeRoy of Lake Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Harriet Weeks of Saranac, and Mrs. Alice Dye of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sons preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Coles funeral home in Montrose. He resided at 718 Roselawn and had been assigned to Ionia post of Michigan State Police the past six years. He was born March 2, 1925, in Laurium the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Mullin. Following graduation from Sacred Heart high school at Laurium he went into the United States Navy and served during World War II. After entering state police recruit school in 1948 he was married to Gertrude Irene Beaton at Laurium in 1949. Previous to being transferred to Ionia he had served six years at Gaylord and five years at Wakefield posts. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church of Ionia and active in the Rock and Mineral Society. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude, and two sons, Michael John, 15 and Kenneth Paul, 12; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mullin of Laurium; two brothers, Joseph of Milwaukee, and Thomas of Nankin; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Berchulz of Dearborn, Mrs. Teresa Roth of Saginaw, Mrs. Margaret Poole of Detroit, Mrs. Cecelia Hammerberg of Wetmore and Mrs. Anna Randel of Sacramento, Calif. Funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul church and services Thursday morning at Sacred Heart church at Calumet. Burial will be at Lakeview cemetery at Calumet.
