Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Tues. Sept. 7 & Thurs. Sept. 9, 1965

Funeral service for Mrs. Maude Gertrude Thomas, 78, of 336 Morse street who 
died late Monday afternoon at Ionia Manor, will be Wednesday at 4 p.m., at 
Stone-Kauffman funeral home. The Rev. Hubert Callahan will officiate and burial 
will be at Balcom cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born December 28, 1886 at Portland, the daughter of Charles and 
Hattie Burhans. For many years she was in the tire and battery shop business 
with her husband, Ernest. He died in 1959.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Luella Wise of Portland and Mrs. 
William Seiler of Lakewood, N.Y.


Sept. 9, 1965

Funeral service was Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Stone Kauffman funeral home for Mrs. 
Maude G. Thomas, 78, who died Monday at Ionia Manor. She had resided at 336 
Morse street. The Rev. Hubert Callahan officiated and burial was at Balcom 
cemetery.

Bearers were Don Seiler, Earl Prescott, Floyd Brand and Dr. Edward Sterner.

Attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. William Seiler of Lakewood, N.Y., Mrs. 
Luella Wise, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Zimmer and Mrs. Earl Zimmer of Portland; and 
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andrews of Flint.
