Mrs. Marie Thomas died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Dickout, 165 East
Main street, Thursday morning after an illness that lasted over a period of 10
weeks.  The funeral services will be held from this home Saturday afternoon at 3
o’clock.  These will be in charge of Rev. Herbert G. Hurrell.  The interment
will take place in the Highland Park cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas, the daughter of the late Seth and Mary Morrison, was born in South
Lyon in 1852 and early in her life was made an orphan by the death of her
parents, and soon afterwards lost her only sister.  At the age of 12 years she
came to live with her uncle [unreadable] Morrison, the pastor of the Baptist

The casket of Mrs. Marie Thomas lay amid a profusion of the choicest of blossoms
Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Dickout, where three generations of
the descendants of Mrs. Thomas gathered in the same room for the funeral
services held there.  The services were conducted by Rev. Herbert G. Hurrell,
and he was assisted by Mrs. Thane Benedict and Mrs. R.A. Colwell with their
musical selections.  William Thomas and Frank Thomas, sons of Mrs. Thomas, and
James Dickout and Dr. G.L. Verpank, sons-in-laws, bore the casket from the home
to the funeral car, and later from the car to the lot in the Highland Park
cemetery, where the interment took place.  Mrs. Leonard Scheid, Mrs. Lloyd
Snyder and Mrs. Ralph Smith took charge of the flowers.
