Feb. 13, 2013 Timothy Thomas, 26, of Grand Rapids formerly of Saranac, passed away Feb. 11, 2013 after a six year battle with injuries sustained in an auto accident. His body finally succumbed to the auto injuries, but his courage did not. He was born Dec. 2, 1986 in Grand Rapids, the son of Daniel Thomas and Janice (Heald) Allen. Timothy was an active-duty soldier of United States Army and part of the First Calvary. He was a 2005 graduate of Saranac High School, where he played football, soccer, wrestling and was in the school band. He attended Heartlands Dental Program. Timothy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a spokesperson for the Cleveland Clinic in which he would speak about a coughing device he had implanted due to his injuries. Timothy is survived by his parents, Dan Thomas of Saranac, Jan (Edward) Allen of Adrian; brothers, Russell Smith of Grand Rapids, Lance Allen of Adrian, and Eddie Allen all, of Ohio; sisters, Rebecca Thomas of Lansing, Sarah (Glenn) Stewart of Cedar Springs, Danielle Thomas of Adrian, and Dara Thomas of Dearborn Heights; grandparents, Roger and Mary Thomas of Saranac; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Harvey and Dorothy Heald. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Galilee Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Leslie officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Interment Easton Cemetery.
