Belding – Earl L. Thomas, 94, Belding, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 4, 1998,
at United Memorial Hospital.  He was born Nov. 10, 1903 in Sand Lake to Ernie
and Mae Conklin Thomas.  He was the former owner and operator of Reliable
Welding in Belding for 23 years, retiring in 1969.  After retirement, Breimayer
Chevrolet Sales employed him for several years.  He was married on Sept. 24,
1927, in Ionia to Josephine LaFond.  She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1996.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Krips on 1970, and Bertha
Hemingsen in 1992.  Two nephews survive him.  

Funeral and committal services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home,
Belding, with Pastor Gary Jacobson officiating.  Interment will be in Greene
Cemetery.  Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today.  Memorial contributions may be
made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
