The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, February 6, 1908


The death of Chas. W. Thomas, of Muir, occurred last Thursday.  The funeral 
took place Sunday.  Mr. Thomas was 78 years of age, having been born in Oswego, 
N.Y. March 30, 1830.

He moved with his parents to Dewitt.  It was there that he married Miss Emeline 
E. Webber, March 9, 1854.  Of the three children born to them two are living, 
Helmer W. Thomas of Portland, and Mrs. Chas. Gardner, of Muir.

Mr. Thomas enlisted August 7, 1862 in Co. H, 24th Michigan infantry and served 
his country faithfully until April 30, 1863 when he was discharged on account 
of disability from which he has been a constant suffered ever since.
