STEPHEN A. THOMAS
A well known Muir businessman Stephen A. Thomas, 58, died Monday morning of a 
heart attack while servicing a car at his station in Muir. He had been owner 
and operator of the station and grocery at the corner of M-21 and Hayes road 
in Muir since 1945. He was a member of Free Methodist church of Ionia.

He was born in Ionia county, November 8, 1909, the son of Lee and Maude Estep 
Thomas. In 1927 he was married to Edna Venton in Stanton and had lived at his 
present address at 225 Garden, Muir since 1953.

Surviving are his wife Edna; a daughter, Mrs Ronald Powell of Ronald 
township; son, Stanley of Ionia; five grandchildren, brother, Matt Thomas of 
Lake Odessa; sister, Mrs Mae Ferguson of Ionia.

Until noon Wednesday the body will be at Stone-Kauffman funeral home in Ionia 
and will then be taken to Ionia Free Methodist church on West Lincoln for 
services at 2 pm with Rev. Joseph Noon officiating. Internment will be in 
Balcom cemetery.
