Thomas, aged 72 years, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Walter J. Callow, 512 East Main street, this afternoon after an illness that [unreadable words] in the home [unreadable line] past two or three months. For many years Mr. Thomas was a familiar figure on the street, having managed the bakery and restaurant business owned by his mother and located in the building now occupied by the Schneider bakery. Mr. Thomas’ illness was the result of a stroke of paralysis, from which he partially recovered, and was able to sit up and assist himself for months, but which, as stated, was followed by a recent one that rendered him helpless, and during which time he has resided with and been cared for by his sister. Mr. Thomas was affiliated with Ionia lodge No. 175, I.O.O.F., and with the Masons. The funeral will be held from the residence of his sister on East Main street Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
