Mrs. Thomas was a loving mother and faithful member of the Friends church for many years where she loved to give her earnest effort. She had lived in the community known as Pinhook in Campbell township, west of Odessa, a number of years, making many friends among the neighbors there. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with several former pastors present. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Elmira Kime was a daughter of Emanuel and Sally Kime. She was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, in 1861. She moved with her parents to Michigan when about eight years of age. She was united in marriage with Abraham Thomas, Nov. 10, 1878, and united with the church the following spring. To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters; Mrs. Clara Allen of Lake Odessa; William, deceased; Claud of Kalamazoo; Martha Kussmant of Woodbury; Ruby Klingman of Battle Creek; Pearl Swiger on the home place; and Roy of Hastings. She also leaves nine grandchildren, two deceased, Vivern Thomas, and Voight Klingman, and five great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters who mourn her departure. In the passing away of Sister Thomas the family has lost a loving mother, the husband a devoted wife, the community a kind friend, the church a sincere sister in Christ, and the Sister’s Aid Society an energetic worker. Card of Thanks We wish in this way to thank our neighbors and friends, also the ministers and singers, for their kind words and sympathy during her illness and death.
