Thomas was born in Sanborn, N. H. July 3d, 1800, and died, in the town of South Boston, Ionia Co., Michigan, June 22d, 1895. He lived with his parents in N. Hampshire until early manhood, when he came to the State of New York. Here he married his first wife and lived in the state until 1865, when removed to this State settling on the farm that has since been his home. Two years after his arrival in this State his wife died, and in 1868 he again married. His second wife still survives him. He was converted at the age of 45 and joined the Baptist Church. His life has been one of the most consistent and earnest, and even at the ripe old age of four score and fifteen, he never murmured at the dealings of kind Providence. He was kind and generous and eager to do what he could for the advance of the Gospel of Christ. Two years ago he gave to the Baptist Church in Lowell, $200; designating one half of the amount for Home Missions, and the remaining one half for the Building Fund of the local church. Funeral services were held in the S. Boston M. E. Church on Sunday, June 23d, at 2 p.m., Pastor E. H. Shanks, of the First Baptist Church, Lowell, officiating. This bit of verse was contributed by friends. He left the crumbling sands of time, And crossed the river o’er; To live where storms can never beat, Safe on the other shore.
