Kathleen M. Thompson, age 90, of Saranac passed away Monday, April 18, 2005 at 
Heartland Health Care.  She was born March 20, 1915 in Portland the daughter of 
John and Pauline (Willems) Schaefer.  She was a member of St. Anthony’s 
Catholic Church, Moose Lodge of Ionia and Elks Club of Ionia.

Kathleen is survived by her son, James and Germaine Thompson Sr. of Saranac; 
daughter, Gerry Lynn Long of Hillsdale; brother, Robert and Jean Schaefer of 
Saginaw; sisters, Mary Ann Montague of Florida, Aileen Rockey of Howell, Rose 
Mary Goodwin of Howell, Geraldine and John Semishko of Holland; eight 
grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild and one sister.

A memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Church with 
Father Tom Hack celebrant.  Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in 
her name to Ionia Area Hospice or St. Anthony’s Church.
