Edward Bert Thompson, Jr., 78, of Sidney, formerly of Stanton, passed away at
his home with his family at his side on Wednesday, May 18, 2005.  Ed was born in
Greenville Sept. 1, 1926, to Edward and Helen Burns Thompson.

He was raised in the Belding area and attended Belding schools.  On April 6,
1944, Ed entered into active service in the United States Navy and was stationed
on the USS Dunlap and the USS Tarawa and was discharged on May 6, 1946.  On
Sept. 14, 1946, in Belding, Ed married Clara Ellen Sherbahn, his wife of more
than 58 years.  Edward and Clara soon moved to Stanton and began their life on
their dairy farm.  Ed was also the owner of Brownies Restaurant and the Wooden
Keg Bar and Restaurant in Stanton for several years.  His many hobbies included
farming and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ricky; two daughters, Linda Perkins,
Ronda Paulson; grandson, Joel Anes; one brother and five sisters.

Edward is survived by his wife, Clara; son, and daughter-in-law, Diana and
Dennis Anes of Mulberry, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Chris, Jon and Nathan
Johnson, Dennis Jr., Shawn and Casey Anes, Edward Perkins, Isaiah Train.  Edward
was one of 13 children and is also survived by two brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services for Edward are 11 a.m. Saturday at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Six
Lakes.  Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the White Pine Library.
