Joan D. Thompson, 77, of 174 W. Holland Lake Drive, Sheridan, died Saturday, 
April 15, 2006 at Metron of Greenville.  She was born April 27, 1928 in 
Lansing, the daughter of Elroy R. Dietrich and Mabel L. Gaylord.

She married William S. Thompson on November 15, 1947 in Hubbardston.  Mrs. 
Thompson was a longtime resident of the Sheridan and Palo areas.  She graduated 
from Belding High School, retired from Frigidaire in 1983, where she was a 
clerical worker, and was a member of VFW Post 5065 Ladies Auxiliary of Sheridan.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter who 
passed away at birth.  She is survived by her husband, William S. Thompson; 
three daughters, Tamara and Gary Steere of Belding, Carla and Mike Durdle of 
Sheridan, Carma and Ken Petersen of Boddentown, Grand Cayman; six grandsons, 
Matt Steere and his fiancée, Teresa Sorrells, of Golden, Colo., Andy and 
Stephanie Steere of Lowell, Scott and Marianne Durdle of Charleston, S.C., Chad 
and Angie Durdle of Gowen, Jeff Petersen of Sheridan, Chris Petersen of Grand 
Rapids; and five great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Zachary and Adrian Durdle of 
Charleston, S.C., Kyle and Madison Durdle of Gowen.

In accordance with Mrs. Thompson’s wishes, there will not be any visitation or 
services, as cremation has already taken place.  For those desiring to do so, 
the family has suggested memorial considerations to either the White Pine 
Library of the Central Montcalm Community Foundation.  Simpson Family Funeral 
Home of Sheridan is serving the Thompson family.
