June 16, 1975 LESTER THOMPSON LAKE ODESSA - Lester Thompson, 79, a rural Alto farmer, died Friday evening at the Spring Brook nursing home at Grand Rapids. Born December 26, 1895, in Campbell township, he was the son of Ervin and Lydia Weaver Thompson. He was a lifelong resident of the Clarksville and Alto area. He was married to Emma Rapp at Clarksville in 1919 and she died November of 1951. September 1, 1953, he was married to Gertrude Timm of Clarksville and she died November 21, 1974. He was a member of the Calvary Brethren church of Alto. Surviving are the son, Donald of Alto; three stepsons, Gilbert, Robert and Burdette Timm, all of Hastings; step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou wilcox of Zeeland; two grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Floyd Thompson of Freeport, and a sister Mrs. Minerva Stahley of Middlebury, Ind.. Until Tuesday morning the body will be at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm at the Calvary Brethren church. Rev. Robert Moeller will officiate and interment will be at the Bowne Mennonite cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer society. Bearers will be Paul Meiser, Bill Wieland, Kenneth Thompson, Bloyd Miller, Gary Parker and Ivis Sutter. Honorary bearers will be Frank Kauffman and Clifford Weaver.
