Born March 21, 1925 to Henry and Ida Wells & grew up in Belding. Graduated Belding High School as Salutatorian in 1943. Was Drum Majorette for Belding High School during WW II. Worked in the office of the Army Air Force in Greenville, moved to Grand Rapids & worked as a legal Secretary for Warner, Norcross and Judd. Married May 22, 1948 to Howard "Bud" Thompson, they were together for 64 years living in Grand Rapids. They danced for many years at the dinner dances at Grace Church. Was a phenomenal seamstress, created beautiful well tailored clothing for family & friends including wedding dresses. Volunteered at Forest Hill Middle school as a teacher-aide in the sewing classes for 12 years, receiving the Ben Emdin Award for her service. Used her secretarial skills for 10 years for the Mayflower Congregation Church Council. Preceded in death by parents, husband Howard "Bud", 6 brothers, 2 sisters. Survived by 1 brother, a son, daughter, granddaughter, & great-grandson. A Memorial service will be held at Mayflower Congregating Church May 23, 2019, at 11 a.m., where she was a faithful member for 43 years. Donation may be made to Hospice of Michigan who provided excellent care to Jaunita at the end of her live.
