February 1914 FORMER LAKE ODESSA MAN KILLED Fred R.Thompson of Grand Ledge brakeman on a switch engine, was caught between a moving car and a platform and crushed, dying a few hours later. The accident occurred on Saturday, and resulted from a coupling pin falling back into place after Thompson thought he had uncoupled it. He leaves his widow and his mother, Mrs.Flora Thompson of Belding. Fred Thompson was well known in Lake Odessa, several years ago, he was the proprietor of the west side restaurant situated where the Elerick Book exchange now is. During that time he made a large number of friends here who still kept in touch with him after he went away. His widow is the daughter fo Mr.and Mrs.A Brown, who went to Grand Ledge Saturday as soon as the news of the accident reached them. He was buried at Fenwick, his old home following a funeral service held at Grand Ledge Tuesday. Additional Comments: Clear Lake Cem.-Fenwick,MI.
