December 3, 2022 Leona Thompson Leona (Mesecar) Thompson left her earthly body and went to Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday Nov. 25, 2022. She had been living at Thornapple Manor for the last several years, where she had received great healthcare, and made several new friends with residents and staff. She was born December 27, 1921, in Campbell Township, MI, one of 12 children, to Burt & Mildred (Hess) Mesecar. In her 100 plus years, she saw many changes happen in the way we now live, compared to her own years growing up through the Great Depression, in a large family. Leona married Donald Thompson (Deceased) on June 1, 1941, and they had 74 years together. She was primarily a stay-at-home Mom and farm wife. Don and Leona had two children, Karen (Mick) Livermore and Darwin (Margie) Thompson. She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren, Pamela (Steve) Ries, Tom (Mindy)Thompson, Tim (Sheryl) Thompson, Zachary (Shanda) Livermore, Amy (Rich) Fetterhof, Todd Livermore; 15 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Of her 11 siblings, two remain living, Martha (Mesecar) Timm, and Wilma (Mesecar) Sheehan. Her deceased siblings were Sheldon (Mabel) Mesecar, Margaret (Wilbur) Dye, Stella (Roy) Kauffman, Bruce (Betty) Mesear, Leon(Leta) Mesecar, Merton (Elaine) Mesecar, Elwood (Barbara) Mesecar, Burt Mesecar Jr., Madeline (Ed) Pierce. Being an organized person, Leona had her funeral service pre-arranged with Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Services were held on Tuesday Nov. 29, 2022, at Hasting's Baptist Church, 309 E.Woodlawn Dr, Hasting. After the service there was a luncheon followed by interment at Bowne Mennonite Cemetery in Clarksville. Retired Pastor Dan Currie serving her and our family in her last wishes.
