The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, August 13, 1947

Mrs. Nettie Thoms, 88, died Wednesday morning at the home of her 
granddaughter, Mrs. Fred Wortman, 231 Union street, after being ill for 
several weeks.  

Born in Nottawa July 25, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Showerman, 
she married Albert B. Thoms in 1881.  In 1886 they moved to Greenville until 
the time of his death in 1928.  Since then she had resided in California and 
in Grand Rapids.  In 1940 she moved to Ionia.

Surviving her are three sons, Clayton of Washington, D.C., Ernest of 
Greenville, and Kenneth of Roseville, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Hoffman funeral home, 
420 Grove street, Greenville.  The Rev. Verner Kilgren of the Methodist church 
will officiate with interment in Centerville cemetery, in Centerville.
