A GOOD WOMAN GONE
Mrs. Wm. C. Thorn Passed Away Last Sunday Morning

Mrs. Wm. C. Thorn died last Sunday morning at about one o’clock after only nine 
days illness from pneumonia and lagrippe. Mr. and Mrs. Thorn have been 
residents of Belding about seven years. She was born in Canada and was 62 years 
of age. Her parents came to Michigan when she was a young girl and she was 
married to Mr. Thorn about 46 years ago, both being residents of the town of 
Vergennes. They have continued to reside within a radius of twenty-five or 
thirty miles of Belding ever since. Mr. Thorn is a veteran of the civil war and 
has not known good health since. They have been the parents of nine children, 
six of whom are living and were all preset at the funeral, Will and Harry Thorn 
and Mrs. May Ort reside here, Mrs. Jennie Johnson at Sherman, Mecosta Co., Mrs. 
Myrtie Ray at Watervliet, Morris Thorn at Harvard, Kent Co. a sister, Mrs. A. 
B. Martin of Sherman, Mecosta Co., accompanied by her husband and family, was 
also present, another sister residing in Isabelle Co. and a brother at Harbor 
Springs, being unable to be here. 

The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. G. 
Quick officiating. The D. of R. of which fraternity the deceased was a member, 
attended in a body. She was a faithful member of the Congregational church, and 
also a member of the W. R.C. The burial took place in the River Ridge cemetery.
