Correspondence of The Standard: Hiram Thornton, an aged and well known resident died at his home on Tuesday last. Deceased was born in the state of New York and spent his youthful days there; moved to Michigan in 1835, settled in the eastern part of the state and from thence to Orleans where he has resided for the last 33 years. He was highly respected by all who knew him; he was a widower, his wife having died June last. Six children survive him, three sons and three daughters. The funeral took place at the Methodist church on Thursday, Rev. Mr. Woodward officiating. Mr. Thornton was in his eighty-seventh year and was buried in his wedding coat.
