June 17, 1965 MILO M. THORNTON Milo M. Thornton, 71, of route two, Ionia, passed away at Veteran's hospital in Saginaw Wednesday evening following several months illness. He was born October 7, 1893, in Chadwick, the son of Melvin Thornton and Jenny Wilson Thornton. He was a veteran of World War I and had lived in Grand Rapids, Englishville and Cedar Springs. For the past 20 years he made his home in the Ionia area. Mr. Thornton was a millwright and farmer. He is survived by two sons, Harold of Houma, La., and Paul of route two, Ionia; a stepson, Russell Curtis of route one, Lyons; five daughters, Mrs. Betty McDonald of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Helen Thayer of Lyons, Mrs. Dixie martin of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Judy Jerosimich of Orleans and Darlene Lehman of Portland, two brothers, Aurra Thornton of Ionia and Lester Thornton of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters, Mrs. Louise Russell of Lake and Mrs. Bertha Vincent of Detroit; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Myers funeral home will be the place for his services Saturday at 2 pm. The Rev. Lester Bailey of the first Methodist church will officiate, with burial in Shanty Plains cemetery.
