THORNTON, BLANCHE (BAIRD) (MRS. HOMER):
   IONIA DAILY SENTINEL-STANDARD, MI; Tuesday, August 13, 1957, page 2:  "Deaths
- MRS. HOMER THORNTON, 77, of Saranac, died at the Newhall convalescent home
near Morley Monday night where she had been a patient for the past two months.
   She was born February 5, 1880, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Dodd Baird.
   The Thorntons lived in Grand Rapids until 1948 when they moved to Saranac and
built a new house.  They have lived in Saranac since that time.
   She is survived by her husband, Homer; two brothers, James and Elvert Baird
both of Lowell, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Carey of Grand Rapids.
   Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris funeral home in Saranac
Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Glenn McCarty officiating.  Interment
will be in the Saranac cemetery.
   Bearers will be Ralph Dodds, Harold Frost, Roy Carpenter, Stanley Ayers,
Gerald Adgate and John Adgate."
