Thorp, 85, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Boynton- Leddick funeral home. Rev. Charles Fullmer of First United Methodist church will officiate and interment will be at Easton cemetery. Mr. Thorp died Tuesday at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where he was a patient one day. He had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ila Andrews of West Main. A son, Elton died November of 1967. Born in Easton township on August 29, 1885, he was the son of Thomas and Melissa Whey Thorp and attended Goodwin school. He farmed on Potters and Sayles roads and also worked with a customs threshing crew in the area. January 18, 1906, he was married to Edith Bemis and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1958. He made his home in Easton township before moving to Ionia in 1922. He was a partner with Guy Conner in the operation of a grocery store on West Main. After selling his interest in the business he built a grocery store on North Union until retirement. Surviving besides the daughter, Mrs. Andrews, are seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
