Ionia Sentinel, 2001

Dorothy Mae Thorp, 77, of Kent City formerly of Lake Odessa, went to be with 
her Lord Nov. 5, 2001.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bob) Engel of Kent City, Don Thorp of 
Lake Odessa, Connie (Al) De Vol of Jenison, Larry (Pat) Thorp of Bellevue and 
Jackie (Gordon) Horvat of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; her sisters and brother, Virginia Goodemoot of Lake Odessa, 
Ethel Patterson of Milwaukee and Chris Harder of Ionia.  

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; her parents; and her 
son, Gus Kasper.

She was a longtime member of the Ionia County Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at the 
Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.  The funeral service will be held at 11 
a.m., Friday at Koops Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in Ft. Custer National 
Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association 
or Hospice of Michigan.
