Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. Aug. 18, 1960

Mrs. Edith L. Thorp, 75, of 520 Union street died Wednesday afternoon at the 
Ionia Rest home. She had been ill four months.

A lifelong resident of Ionia county, Mrs. Thorp was born September 28, 1884 in 
Easton township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace W. Bemis. She was married 
to Glenn W. Thorp, January 17, 1906.

Mrs. Thorp was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, a son, Elton B. Thorp, and a daughter, 
Mrs. Albert (Ila) Andrews of Ionia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild, 
and one brother, Lynn Bemis of Coldwater.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home with 
burial at Easton cemetery.

Mrs. Edith L. Thorp

Funeral service for Mrs. Edith L. Thorp, 75, of 520 Union street, who died 
Wednesday afternoon, was held Saturday afternoon at Myers funeral home. The 
Rev. Floyd Emshwiller, pastor of the First Christian church officiated and 
interment was at Easton cemetery.

Bearers were: Purl Johnson, Roy Stewart, Max Stebbins, Thomas Dee, Russell 
Hoople and Fred Thwaites.

Friends and relatives attending from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bemis and Mr. 
and Mrs. Warren Stetler and family of Coldwater; Mrs. Roland Niblock of 
Stanton, Mrs. Edna Bemis of Ypsilanti, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Curtiss of 
Kalamazoo, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Atchinson of Grattan, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl 
Slater of Clarksville.
