DURWOOD J. THORP
Durwood J. Thorp, 57, who had been ill since last June, died Thursday morning at
Ionia County memorial hospital. He resided at 406 Forest street.

He was born November 28, 1909 in Orange township the son of Giles and Vesta Thorp
and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employded by Grand Trunk
railroad 37 years.

June 30, 1931 he was married to Lucille White, who survives as do two daughters,
Mrs. Wayne Winslow and Mrs. Robert Blackmer of Ionia; three grandsons; one sister, Mrs.
Alta Bozung of Ionia.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers funeral home with Rev. James 
Kendall, presiding.  Burial will be in Balcom cemetery..
