           SERVICES HELD FOR ETHEL THORP
   Mrs. Ethel Thorp, 87, Route 1, Portland, passed away late Friday night at the
Ionia Manor where she had 
been a patient for a year and a half.
   She was born June 25, 1888 in Ionia County, the daughter of Henry and Maria
(Probart) Young an dwas a 
lifelong resident of the Sebewa area.  She married Bert Thorp December 24, 1910 at
Portland and he passed 
away July2, 1946.
   Mrs. Thorp was member of the West Sebewa Church of Christ and a charter member of
the West Sebewa 
Community Club.
   Surviving are two sons, Kenneth and Marshall of Route 1, Portland; eight
grandchildren' six great 
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Etola Face of Orleans and Mrs. Howard (Marie)
Noddins of Belding and a 
brother, Ernest Young of Ionia, nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at
Lake Odessa. Lynn 
Schuchardt officiated with burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
