Sentinel-Standard - Saturday, May 13, 1961

Mrs. Clara V. Thorp, 76, of 406 Forest street died unexpectedly Saturday morning.

She was born March 31, 1885 in Sebewa township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James 
Crowel, and had resided in Ionia since 1920.

Her husband, Giles Thorp, preceded her in death in 1940, and a son Elwood, died in 
infancy.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Alta Bozung of Ionia; a son  Durwood Thorp of Ionia;

five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Steele of Ionia.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home with interment in the 
family  lot at Letts cemetery.
