William A. Thorp was born in Sebewa township, Ionia county, Mich., June 9, 1881
and passed away at 12:15 Sunday morning, June 8, 1919, lacking one day of being
38 years of age.  He was married to Maud Seckston Oct. 29, 1903.  The wife and
four children, Edna, Neil, Harold and Gerald, mourn the loss of a kind and
affectionate husband and father.  Besides there are the bereaved mother and four
brothers, Freeman, Giles, George and Berton, they having suffered the loss of
the husband and father, Giles Thorp, sr., Aug. 22, 1917, and also the loss of
the younger son and brother Jason, who died on the battlefield of France, Oct.
24, 1918.  The death of William was the third death in the family in twenty-two
months.

He was of a cheerful disposition and an obliging neighbor and will be missed by
a large circle of relatives and friends, his entire life having been spent in
this immediate vicinity.

The funeral was held at 11 o’clock at the Christian church at Sebewa on Tuesday
morning June 10.  The services were in charge of Elder Fay Wing of Wayland. 
Music by the male quartet and burial at Lakeside cemetery.
