Ionia Sentinel Standard, 9 Apr 1966

Guy Thorpe, about 65, a farmer who lived on Portland road west of Nash road, was
found dead about 9 a.m. Saturday in the barn at his home.  Coroner Dale Kauffman
and Sheriff O. Gary Newton, both of Ionia, said Thorpe was found hanging from a
rafter in the barn.  He was said to have been despondent because of ill health.

The body was removed to the Pickens funeral home at Lake Odessa.

[Transcriber’s note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that he was
buried in Clarksville Cemetery.]
