Ionia County News - Thursday, April 4, 1963

Neil W. Thorpe, 55, of Livonia, died suddenly at his home early Friday 
morning, March 15, as a result of a heart condition.

Born in Sebewa township on September 20, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. 
William Thorpe, he attended Sebewa and Lake Odessa schools.

Mr. Thorpe resided most of his life in the Detroit area. He was a member of 
the Michigan State Police for many years and later was in the insurance 
business.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, William, at home; his mother and 
step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Florn Oles of Hesperia; two brothers, Harold 
Thorpe of Grand Rapids and Gerald Thorpe of New Paris, Indiana; and a 
sister, Mrs. William Youngs of Ionia.

The body arrived in lake Odessa Monday and reposed at the Pickens Funeral 
Chapel . Rosary was recited Monday evening at 7:30 pm. Funeral services were 
conducted Thursday, March 19 at 9 am, at St. Edward's Catholic Church, in 
Lake Odessa. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
