Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 22 Jul 1940

Louis Thorpe, 83 year old Saranac resident, died at his home Sunday, July 21. 
He had been sick for about a month.  He was brought to his home from the Chase
hospital in Lake Odessa Saturday and died the following day.

Born at Battle Island, New York, in January of 1857, he moved to Michigan in
1877.  The remainder of his life was spent in and around Saranac.  His
occupation was carpenter work.  He was married to Bertha Sargeant in 1896.

Surviving are the widow, Bertha, and two sons, Harold E. and Stanley Thorpe.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Sessions funeral
chapel.  Interment will be held at the Saranac cemetery.
