Thuma, a former well known resident of this place, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Swan, near Beaverton, Sunday. Mr. Thuma was born in Richland county, Ohio on December 27, 1836, and when a young man came to Portland and resided in this vicinity until about 20 years ago, when he went to Beaverton. In 1857 he was married to Margaret Ashcroft, at Auburn, Ind., who died 40 years ago and was buried in the Danby cemetery. Five children survive, Mrs. Swan of Beaverton, Mrs. Ida Rippleman of Jackson, Mrs. Rose Ritter of Pioneer, Ohio, Mrs. Edward May of Pentwater and John Thuma of Portland.
