Thurlby, 82, lifelong Ionia county resident, died Sunday evening in her home in Saranac after an illness of several weeks. Emma Story was born June 29, 1862, in South Boston, the daughter of George and Sarah Story, Ionia county pioneers. She was married to George C. Thurlby in South Boston where they had resided until 1916 when they moved to a home in Saranac. Mrs. Thurlby was a member of the Saranac Methodist church. Surviving is her husband, who suffered a fractured hip several months ago and who is now able to walk with the aid of crutches. Other survivors are two nieces, Mrs. John Godfrey of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Dwight Ives of Rochester, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Morris funeral home. The Rev. F. E. Chamberlain, retired Methodist minister who resides in Saranac, will officiate and burial will be in South Boston cemetery.
