Thwaites, 55, 442 Center Street, died at his home Sunday morning of heart disease, which was aggravated by a three weeks illness of flu. Mr. Thwaites was born in London, England, but had lived the greater part of his life in Michigan and had resided in Ypsilanti and Ionia. He had spent 30 years here, and the last nine of which he had been handling dairy products. He was a member of the Elks lodge and the L.O.O.M. Besides his wife who was Miss Ida Rieger, of Detroit, he leaves the following children: Mrs. Jerry Burke, of Ionia; Ida, Melvin, Virginia, and Frederick Thwaites, at home; Howard and Harold Thwaites, of Lansing; Mrs. Helen Ellsworth, Kalamazoo. Mr. Thwaites was one of a family of 13 children. His 84-year-old father, William Thwaites, resides in Toronto, Can., and his sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Strickland, Mrs. Florence Strickland, Mrs. Anna Graham, and two brothers, Albert and Charles, all of Toronto, also survive him. The funeral services will be held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. The burial will be in the Highland Park mausoleum.
