Merlin J. Tiedt, 74, of Ionia, formerly of Grand Ledge, passed away Sunday, 
Dec. 16, 2001, in Lansing.

He retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation Testing and Research 
Division, where he worked for 25 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and 
traveling.

Survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley; daughter, Carol (Michael) Weir of 
Grand Ledge; son, John (Becky) of Potterville; grandchildren, Jacob and 
Benjamin Tiedt, Todd (Sara) and Theresa Weir; father, Floyd Tiedt of Grand 
Ledge; sister Darlene Nollen of Grand Ledge; brother, Melvin Tiedt of Rodney; 
and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tiedt was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann (Morris) Tiedt.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, 
Grand Ledge.  Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral 
home.  Interment N. Eagle Cemetery.
