C. Tietz 64, a retired baker passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday afternoon. A native of Grand Haven, he came here about 40 years ago and was employed by John Rasmussen in the local bakery. Returning to Grand Haven in 1917 after his marriage to Frances Dann, they remained there until purchasing a bakery here which they operated from 1926-1934. After selling the business Mr. Tietz was employed as a baker by different firms in western Michigan, which included the Pollyanna and Wright bakeries in Grand Rapids, until his retirement about three years ago. Surviving are his wife Frances; two daughters Mrs. Fred Wilson of the Selfridge Air force base at Mt. Clemens and Mrs. Arthur Hinman of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son William C. of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandsons; two brothers Otto of Hastings and Benjamin of Portage, Wis; seven sisters Mrs. Harry McGill, Mrs. Jay Poel, Mrs Chester Rockway and Miss Julia Tietz all of Grand Haven, Mrs. Jack Bremer of Ferrysburg, Mrs. Arthur Zuttermeister of Hastings and Mrs. O. R. Remley of Vero Beach. Florida. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 at the Pickens funeral chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. A. J. Pitman officiated.
