A former Lake Odessa resident, Mrs. Frances R. Tietz, 80, died Saturday 
afternoon at a rest home at Cincinnati, Ohio following an extended illness.  
Born May 18, 1893 at Grandville, she was the daughter of Albert and Lena 
Alberta Dann and came to Lake Odessa with her parents in 1901.  

She was a graduate of Lake Odessa high school in 1911 and attended summer 
classes at Mt. Pleasant college.  She taught Lake Odessa area rural schools 
several years and for one year she taught the kindergarten in the Lake Odessa 
school.  In October 1915 she was married to William Tietz of Grand Haven and 
lived there and at Watervliet before coming to Lake Odessa.  

(portion illegible)…..Lake Odessa in 1928.  they owned and operated the Tietz 
bakery in Lake Odessa many years.  He died about 20 years ago and a son 
William died in 1963.  In later years she worked for the Lake Odessa Wave 
office and was employed a number of years as clerk in Lake Odessa stores, her 
last position in a Lake Odessa ……(illegible)….Conn., and Mrs. Arthur Hinman of 
Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; brother, Stanley W. Dann of Lake Odessa. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake 
Odessa.  Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and interment will be at 
Lakeside cemetery.
