She was born in Columbia county, N.Y., August 16, 1841 coming to Michigan with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Castle, when about 5 years old, and when this county was comparatively new, in fact a vast wilderness. Mrs. Tiff had lived at Palo for many years and had been in poor health for some time. She was a sufferer from dropsy, which was the cause of her death. Two weeks ago she came to her sisters and all was done for her that loving hands could do, but to no avail. She leaves a son and daughter, two sisters and four brothers, her husband having died many years ago. The funeral services were held at the Palo M. E. church Sunday.
