He was 66 years of age, and had been crippled and in bed for the past 15 years. He had been a great sufferer and the most of his enjoyment was listening to the radio. He leaves his wife, a step-daughter and many other relatives and friends. He was well known by the older residents as a good many years of his life were spent in Bushnell and when a boy attended the Castel school. ---- The remains of Chauncey Tift, aged 66 years, who died Friday, June 2nd, were brought to Palo cemetery from Ionia Sunday afternoon for interment in the family lot by the side of relatives gone before. Mr. Tift had been an invalid the past 15 years. He was born in Palo but had lived in Ionia many years. Surviving relatives are his wife, Hattie; a half-sister, Mrs. Sadie Hock, of Greenville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Gallop, and two step-grandchildren, Mrs. Otis Rice and Vern Gallop of Ionia.
