Gerald Ore Tingley, 88, of Stanwood, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 9, 
2000 at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1912 in Goldendale, Wash., to Sidney Groff and Pearl Grace 
(Harris) Tingley.  Gerald graduated from Ionia High School in 1932.  He married 
Neva Thelma Holcomb on March 21, 1941 in Alexandria, La.  He served in the U.S. 
Army during World War II.  Following the war, Gerald made his home in Ionia 
working at Wagemakers Boat Company of Grand Rapids.  He loved outdoors, 
hunting, fishing, working with wood, planting and caring for flowers and trees.

He is survived by daughter, Pamela Kay (Tingley) and husband, Michael Sigafoose 
of Saranac; son William Gerald and wife, Linda L. (Primozich) Tingley of 
Stanwood; grandchildren, Brandei (Sigafoose) and Ryan Wingard of Livonia, 
Blaine Sigafoose of Eagan, Minn., Brad Sigafoose of Saranac, Tracy (Tingley) 
and Darrin Pritchard of Stanwood, and Troy Tingley of Southfield; one great-
grandson, Zachary Pritchard of Stanwood; sister-in-laws, Beulah Leland and 
Sylvia Holcomb of Florida; brother-in-law, Marion Munn of Ionia; and several 
nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Thelma on April 17, 1993; his 
parents; three brothers, Harold, Loren and Sidney; and a sister, Elizabeth.

Funeral services will take place 10 a.m., Friday at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral 
Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Harly Koehn officiating.  Burial will be 3 p.m. 
Friday at Balcom Cemetery near Ionia.  The family will greet friends at the 
funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday.
