Tingley Mrs. Bessie M. Tingley, 74, passed away,Thursday evening at Pennock hospital, Hastings following a long illness. She was born at Springport on November 4, 1898, the daughter of Melvina and Blanche (Roy) Burns and later the family moved to Eaton Rapids. A graduate of the Eaton Rapids high school she was employed in the office of Horner Woolen Mills until her marriage to Alva Tingley at Eaton Rapids on August 3, 1919, and has lived all their married life in the Lake Odessa area. Mrs. Tingley was a member of Church, the Adult Fellowship, the WSCS and served in offices in the church and organizations and was also a member of the World War I Lakeside Auxiliary. Surviving are her husban; a son, Robert of Lake Odessa; a daughter, Mrs.Sherwood (Joyce) Durkee of Johnson City, Tenn.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and one brother, Harold Burns of Grand Ledge. Funeral services were held n Saturday at 1:30 at Pickens Funeral Chapel. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or left at Pickens Chapel.
