Ionia Sentinel-Standard
Loren S. Tingley, 67, of 7609 Cortland Dr., Rockford, died Friday, December 23 
at his home.  He was born June 10, 1918, in Goldendale, Washington, the son of 
Sidney and Pearl Harris Tingley.  He was married to Louise L. Rutz and later 
married Margaret Rogers in Grand Rapids.  He was an employee of the State of 
Michigan Department of Agriculture for 34 ½ years as a food inspector.  He 
graduated from Ionia High School in 1934.  He was a member of Veterans of 
Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Wally Baun Airstream Club.  He served in 
the United States Navy for 7 ½ years.

Surviving are his wife Margaret; one son, Larry of Lowell; five daughters, Mrs. 
Bruce (Sharon) Sweers of Sparta, Mrs. Felton (Karen) Miller of Arkansas, Mrs. 
Dean (Joyce) VanDan of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Alderton of Dorr, Mrs. 
James (Sharon) Long of Rockford, fifteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; 
three brothers, Harold Tingley of Ionia, Gerald Tingley of Cadillac, and Sidney 
Tingley of Fenwick; his step-mother, Mrs. Marvin Tingley of Ionia; one aunt, 
Mrs. Fheobe Longberry of Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, at 3:00 pm at the Paderson 
Funeral Home in Rockford with Rev. Gary Davis and Mr. Scott Eady, officiating.  
Burial will be in Brooklawn Cemetery.  A memorial has been established to the 
Hospice of Great Grand Rapids.
