Former Resident dies at Lansing
Mrs. Sarah M. Tischer 88, of Lansing and former local resident, passed away last 
Wednesday morning at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing,  where she had been a patient for 17
days.

She was born January 7, 1881, the daughter of Gottlieb and Margaret (Funk) Wieland,
and spent her early life in the Elmdale area.

She married Garc Tischer of Lake Odessa December 25, 1907, and they moved to a farm
on Tischer Rd., southwest of Lake Odessa, in 1916 from the Elmdale area. They resided
there until moving to Lansing in 1928. Mr. Tischer passed away April 11, 1947.

Mrs. Tischer was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Lansing and the church
organizations and had transferred her membership from the Woodland Zion Lutheran 
Church. She was also a member of the Lansing Senior Citizens and enjoyed so many 
activities.

Surviving are three sons, Gerald of lake Odessa, Kenneth of Grand Ledge and Hollis
of Drummond Island; a daughter, Mrs. Giden (Katherine) Phelps of Lansing; 13
grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:00 o'clock Saturday at Lakeside cemetery,
Lake Odessa.
